This piece is part of my Songs of Light series. Each piece in the series is an exploration of process, color, pattern and movement. I am allowing instinct to guide me to experiment with layers of monochromatic colored cloths that I have readily available. I am allowing myself time, time to take them, to transform them, through movement (a melody), mine and eventually the viewers, to become continually, something new. I am seeing each in a new way as I place an additional layer, an embroidered pattern, that adds harmony to the piece creating a song with light. Made in the summer of 2020 during the quarantine of the COVID-19 pandemic. The making of this work brought me comfort and peace in a chaotic time. With it, I was able to wind down and relax and contemplate the beauty amidst the craziness of my day.
