Never a Finished Thought, 2021

Watercolor, salt, collage on paper

8"x10"

Being interrupted by children is a common occurrence for parents, but I found that the pandemic served to emphasize the mental burden that these interruptions can create. Over time, the constant interruptions weighed more heavily and became insufferable at times. Every sentence was made into a fragment; even quick thoughts or ideas were put on hold. Under normal circumstances I might have been able to manage this inconvenience with a more positive attitude, but in the midst of a pandemic it wore me down. My piece is a way of working through the frustration I feel when I just want to say one simple thing and the resolution of the thought is interrupted.
