Ten More Minutes, 2020

To them time is a fluid thing that passes by unnoticed. However when they’re unable to entertain themselves, time is a battle. Time is a concept they don’t quite understand yet, which means I can still bend it ever so slightly. I needed some quiet, just a few short moments of silence while getting dinner ready, so I sent them outside to get some fresh air. After a few minutes they showed up at the door, wanting to know when they could come inside.
“Ten minutes” was my reply.
About five minutes later they showed up again, asking when they could come inside.
“8 minutes” was my reply.
This happened again and again until ten minutes had actually been about 30 and I had cleared my head.
