"Wounds" is a watercolor work that speaks to many facets of motherhood during the ongoing pandemic that began in the US in March 2020. This work represents the repeated traumas, the accumulation of stresses, the layers of emotional responses and the depletion that comes with them. Here those ideas are smeared sharply into a bleak simulacrum of a landscape, many 'wounds' layering in the sky over a deepening bruise. The endlessness of days spent in anxiety, frustration, interruption and exhaustion are visible in the layers of abrasion here, the days all being the same brutal texture, adding up over time.
