Sleepless Nights, Complicated Days, 2020
oil & bitumen paint on canvas
80x100x4cm
Planned before lockdown, this painting was dripped and painted at home during the first lockdown 2020. Painting work often explores the dark and chaotic lives of mothers and carers at home with humour. They real many types of 'domestic dystopia' and aim to represent and make visible the small domestic acts and trials that women experience at home. These paintings were never more resonant since the Pandemic forced women back into a domestic sphere that many had succeeded in escaping.
