house paint, childrens' sheets, paper, old curtains, paint, and colored pencil on wood panel

36" x 53"

I've been juggling the artist/full time job/mother reality for a while now, but the past year I feel fully cooked, saturated, overwhelmed, and just full of it. Everything feels intense and numb too. I also have a son with autism, so there's that element thrown into all of it. Early on in the pandemic, I got myself medicated. That was one of the best decisions I made for myself. This painting, Domestic Flood, is about the flood of materials, domestic items, children, cuddles, lack of personal space, fatigue, laundry, and all of it (the good stuff too). I used household paint, my sons' old sheets, old curtains, paper, and colored pencils. I see the faceless figure as a goddess/mother who is tangled up in everything, but somehow the composition is all balanced and flowing around her. Domestic Flood.
